Physically more transparent formulas for measuring event-by-event dynamical mean transverse momentum fluctuations σ2(Mpt,dyn) are derived. It turns out that σ2(Mpt,dyn) equals the dynamical fluctuations of the event total transverse momentum divided by the square of the average sample multiplicities. It is equivalent to the dynamical fluctuations of the event average transverse momentum σ2(Mpt)dyn when multiplicity n is fixed and different from σ2(Mpt)dyn when n varies from event to event. HIJING-1.382 simulations confirm the analytical results.
