Charged pion-pair photoproduction and electroproduction on the proton up to 1 GeV

An effective Lagrangian approach for double pion photoproduction and electroproduction on the proton developed by the Valencia group is improved in a covariant relativistic way. We obtain reasonable agreement with available experimental data for charged pion-pair channel from threshold up to 1 GeV. The role of the D13(1520) resonance in this channel as an intermediate state is also discussed. This approach is applied to calculate the π- inclusive cross section.
