The spectral properties of the eigenvalues of realistic nuclear Hamiltonians for light nuclei are studied and compared with the predictions of the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble and with experimental data. The consequences of isospin-nonconserving forces on the generic behavior of nuclear levels are also investigated.
