The 19/2-→7/2- E6 transition in 53Fe is calculated in a model including all basis states of the configurations (f7/2)13IT and [(f7/2)12IT×f5/2]IT. Several interactions, which yield the observed amount of f5/2 configuration mixing, have been considered. In all cases an effective charge δ-0.4 is needed to fit experiment (where ep=1+δ, en=δ).

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 53Fe; calculated B(E6). Model space (f7/2)13 and (f7/2)12f5/2.
